Reconstitution & syringe unit calculator
Math only. This tool never suggests a dose. Use the dose your prescriber or the product label gives you, and have a pharmacist or clinician confirm your math. Unit mix-ups are a known cause of accidental overdose with injectable peptide drugs.
How the math works
- Concentration = powder (mg) ÷ diluent (mL).
- Volume to draw (mL) = dose (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL).
- Insulin syringes are marked in units, where 100 units = 1 mL. Units = mL × 100.
Safety notes
- Check the unit ladder. 1 mg = 1,000 mcg. A mg-vs-mcg slip is a 1,000-fold error.
- Very small draws are imprecise. Below about 5 units a small reading error is a large share of the dose; ask your pharmacist whether to use more diluent.
- Follow the beyond-use date on your pharmacy label. Do not extend it.
- Products from unregulated "research" sellers are not authorized medicines. See the legal tracker and our guide to certificates of analysis.
